Halo nightfall elite1/1/2024 ![]() 343i needs to REALLY reconsider how they approach their story telling. Basically firefights end up looking dopey cause of this, because you know the actors are just jerking their arms derpy-like Nitpicky thing, but I really hate how even though the weapons looks legit, they still aren't rigged to actually fire/eject brass. + It has an actual plot right away, unlike F.U.D Spartans can't just disappear and show up later in the UNSC if an ONI officer can recognize who that is within hours of meeting them-it would have to be really obvious for Locke to make that connection, and with the money and effort poured into the Spartans, they don't leave that program unless they wash out due to the steroid therapy going horribly wrong or they end up in a body bag.So I think that if Nightfall had attempted to address the Halo universe more than just a halfhearted attempt to justify the setting, it would've been infinitely more watchable. And while it tries to tie in the idea of a Spartan with that commander who is secretly a former Spartan, it seriously misunderstands its source material. Sure, it shows that the creators know that the Hunters are made out of worms, but is that what Halo is about? Some semi-horror type scenario with enemies not in the game? Even the Flood would've shown more respect, as that's the closest thing the actual games got to horror and a scenario where the protagonists have to fight for their lives. Sure, there is some tension between ONI and the UNSC counterparts (something that is in the lore) but the rest of the series focuses on nothing to do with Halo-it's a struggle against Hunter worms that can sense technology. ![]() With an alien species that (afaik) was created solely for this movie/mini-series, it has no Covenant or Forerunner antagonists, and little of it has to do with the Halo universe. In contrast, Nightfall doesn't even seem to understand the universe it is set in. It shows an understanding and knowledge of the universe that only a fan would know, and as this is aimed at fans it works well. And this is without going into how the ODST brother showed how revered Helljumpers are, how the Spartans saving the day at the last moment was a metaphor for how Master Chief saves humanity, etc. It shows how much the writers understood the Halo universe. And when the fighting starts towards the end, and the students are rescued by Master Chief, they find out that they are the only survivors on the entire planet-which fits incredibly well with the Halo universe, where Covenant topple entire UNSC defenses and wipe out planets with minimal losses. In any generic space fictional universe, the good guys would be the "good guys." Instead, crucially, it shows how secretive and authoritarian the UNSC is, how they hide the fact that the Covenant even exist, much less that the Covenant are systematically wiping out planets one by one. ODST dropping in and fighting going on, without any of the students really understanding who is fighting them. UNSC evacuating a planet without telling anybody why. One of the students in the school pieces together highly classified footage to find something that the UNSC has hidden-a common threat to both the Innies and the UNSC. Most of the story is somewhat generic, but it's very clearly set in a Halo universe. ![]() The best way to reach the other glowing energy source now is to navigate back to the Cartographer up the ramps and then take the high road over. The setdrop is a UNSC school. Once you activate one of these you will be deposited in a lower area of the level and Covenant will fill in the area around the Cartographer. Another Covenant weapons locker just to the right of the Cartographer holds more Carbines.Īfter hitting the console, head towards one of the bright, glowing locations marked on your HUD. Note weapon locations in the area on the way here - there are Plasma Pistols and Needlers aplenty on the ramps leading up to the Cartographer - but perhaps most helpful are the Covenant Carbines, one of which can be found in the small rock/cave area on the left when facing the Cartographer. Ignore the Sentinels inside and access the Cartographer that your waypoint points you to. If you grab these you can clear out the Forerunner structure entrance with ease. On either side of the structure are Grunts with Fuel Rod Cannons. Get up on the hill and fire down at the Elite and Grunts below you and the structure. There are Carbines along the right wall of the entry. Begin by sniping Jackals in the distance. Legendary Tip: Take this area slow - the Checkpoint will set you back pretty far. With this you can turn invisible, briefly, at the tap of LB. A ramp leads straight up the middle to an upper tier with an Elite holding not only an Energy Sword, but also Active Camouflage. Here you'll find a large entrance or gate. You'll have to ditch your vehicle or not if you can maneuver it over the rock face to get to the next area.
